| Wastewater Data Management System
(WDMS) provides an information management system
for wastewater facilities to manage sampling, laboratory results,
reporting, and compliance tracking. It is designed for treatment
plants, power plants, and chemical industries to use as a
compliance system for managing water sampling programs required
by environmental programs, such as the NPDES and pretreatment
regulations.
| The
Work Flow |
 |
WDMS is a comprehensive and easy-to-use information management
system that provides water dischargers with state-of-the-art
technology to manage their water monitoring information.
The WDMS is designed with four major objectives in mind:
regulatory compliance, cost and timesavings, flexibility to
grow, and ease-of-use. Many critical regulatory components,
such as DMR reporting and compliance evaluation required by
the NPDES program are fully incorporated in the System. It
allows the users to tailor the WDMS to meet their site-specific
compliance strategies. The WDMS employs object-oriented technology
that encapsulates all tedious and complicated DMR calculation
procedures in an easy-to-use system.
The WDMS relieves the burden of record keeping and reporting
so that you can concentrate more on compliance planning and
engineering. A data exporting utility is also provided for
transfer of critical environmental data to other computer
systems for other uses.
Easy and Accurate Generation of DMR
Reports
WDMS
saves valuable resources by eliminating those required to
analyze field monitoring data and tedious spreadsheet calculations,
freeing up more valuable engineering time for compliance planning
and evaluation. It consistently produces accurate DMR reports
based on the user-selected calculation functions.
Ten commonly used regulatory calculation functions are available:
Daily Minimum, Daily Maximum, 4-day average, 7-day average,
30-day average, 7-day geometric mean, 30-day geometric mean,
30-day minimum percent removal, 30-day average percent removal,
and sum. All these calculation functions conform to regulatory
requirements. WDMS gives you the flexibility to set the decimal
points for each DMR parameter line based on the regulatory
requirements pertaining to your facility, preventing stiff
fines for inadvertent mistakes. DMR reports can be generated
quickly and edited before submission to regulatory agencies.
You can also export your DMR reports to electronic data files
that are consistent with most regulatory requirements.
Efficient Data Acquisition and Central
Management
WDMS gives you the flexibility to set up your own data input
screen for speedy data entry. Importing your field and laboratory
data from the spreadsheet programs of your choice to WDMS
is quick and easy with an intuitive user interface. WDMS's
object-oriented architecture allows the development of additional
options to import monitoring data from other monitoring instruments
or programs.
Central Tracking of Permit Information
WDMS manages your facility, discharge outfalls, and permit
limit information. You can track permit renewal date and renewal
remind date. Unlimited permit revisions can be maintained
in the WDMS.
Sample Schedule, Chain of Custody
& Bottle Label
Through the Sample Schedule module, WDMS allows
you to track sample schedules and generate laboratory workload
reports to remind laboratories of certain test procedures
that need to be performed. The Chain of Custody report allows
you to print out a complete history of custody pertaining
to a given sample. The Bottle Label report lets you print
out bottle labels with sample preservation descriptions for
your samples.
Easy Checking of DMR Compliance Status
The WDMS provides graphical interface to help you easily to
evaluate your DMR compliance status. Automatic warning displays
alert you when there are any potential noncompliance events.
The
Compliance Evaluation module allows you to tailor the compliance
evaluation screen with your facility plot plan. Each DMR is
automatically evaluated by the WDMS against the permit information
stored in the database. You will be alerted of any potential
noncompliance flagged by the WDMS with a "blinking red
light" at the sample location shown on the facility plot
plan. To further evaluate potential noncompliance, you can
simply double click on the red light to zoom into the database
to retrieve all the details.
Trend Analysis
The
Trend Analysis module allows you to perform a discharge trend
analysis in 3-dimensional graphics. You can export your graphical
trend analysis charts to other Windows™ software for
editing and presentation.

Automatic Unit Conversion
WDMS has a unit conversion module that automatically converts
all monitoring data to the appropriate unit for DMR reporting
and data comparison.
Flexible Treatment of Not Detectable
(ND) Data
The WDMS provides you with the flexibility to determine how
the ND data from your samples is treated. There are four options
for setting the ND data: (1) reporting limits, (2) instrument
detection limits, (3) midpoint between zero and reporting/detection
limits, or (4) excluding from reporting.
Advanced Security
Your sensitive environmental information is fully secure in
the WDMS. You have total control of the data security by maintaining
a list of authorized users, their logon passwords, and the
ability to customize user access privileges at the menu screen
level.
Context-Sensitive Help
Online
system help is readily accessible when you need it. By pressing
the "F1" key, you can quickly access on-line help
for the currently displayed screen.
The Help facility also provides help on topics, key-word,
and index searching.
Additional System Features
The WDMS is written in a user-friendly Windows™
environment with standard pull-down menus, making the use
of the WDMS very intuitive. You can use the "repair the database"
feature to recover lost information caused by external events.
You can use the "EDI" module to import sample analysis
data from external systems (such as Excel or LIMS), or to
generate electronic DMRs in X.12 format for electronic submissions
to the Agency. The Reporting module provides a comprehensive
set of reports to help you easily review and print all the
information stored in the database.
